Blue Bells

Casual socks with stand up or fold-over cuffs of tiny ruffled bells.

  • Tofutsies; SouthWest Trading Co., 100g/425m, 50% Superwash Wool, 25% Soysilk Fibers, 22.5% Cotton, 2.5% Chitin (fiber made from shrimp and crab shells)

#720 Sweep You Off Your Feet

Needles:

U.S.# 0, 1, or 1.5 double point knitting needles (2mm, 2.25mm, 2.5mm, 2.75mm)

Gauge:

8 stitches per inch in stockinette stitch





Basic Socks

Design by Donna Johnson. Gerdine Strong, a Canadian knitting designer and teacher, invented the heel used in this pattern. It eliminates the need to pick up stitches along the heel flap.

Materials:

  • 2 skeins fingering weight yarn
  • 2 markers

Needles:

  • 1 set double-point needles
  • size 1 or 2 circular needles,depending on your choice

Gauge:

7-8 sts. = 1 inch

This sock will fit a size 6, 7 or 8 shoe. If you need to make it wider or narrower, increase or decrease total stitches by a multiple of 4.





Walking Luna Socks

Kimber asked for a pattern for hiking socks for her birthday and here they are … O.k. a bit girly for ‘serious’ hiking, you can always leave the picots off the top but why? Oh, the pattern seems to run a little big and it works great for guys socks, too. (But in that case, I guess, I would leave the picots off.)

Materials:

  • 1 (1, 2) skeins Cestari, worsted, 210 yards, Main Color
  • 1 skein Cestari, worsted, 210 yards, Contrast Color
  • 2 stitch markers

Needles:

  • #4 - 40” circular knitting needle
  • - or - Double pointed needles
  • (Double Pointed needles may have difficulty keeping all cast on and Luna Picot Row sts on needles.)
